Chimene is a teacher, dancer and choreographer, and has been teaching in the Bay Area for the past 14 years. She graduated from UC San Diego where she studied Communication Theories and was introduced to Jean Isaacs (San Diego Dance Theater) who ignited in her the love for Modern Dance and teaching.
Chimene studied with Anne Bluethenthal for eight years learning skills in both the Hawkins & Alexander Techniques and was a company member with AB&D for four years. She studied aerial arts, Motivity and was a company member with pioneer, Terry Sendgraff, and toured with Kirstin Williams and Strong Current Dance Company.
Her choreography came out of her classes, and from her student base started a pick up company that focused on movement coming from within, based mostly on the subject matter that the dancers brought with them to the rehearsal process. Her work has been seen in recent years at the Choreographer’s Showcase at Dance Mission Theater and the Pilot and Migration Series at ODC.
Her goal is to continue to share the incredible gift of dance and the access it provides to understanding our spirit and human connectedness.
